THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB: CUBBY O'BRIEN
B/w photo of Cubby O'Brien as a Mouseketeer and as a grown man in a beard and V-cut shirt, signed in brown ink
Photograph Montage inscribed and signed: "To Chuck/from/Cubby O'Brien" in brown ink. B/w, 10x8 overall, two images 4½x5½ each (one surface). Captioned at lower margin. Drummer Carl "Cubby" O'Brien (born in 1946) was the youngest male to audition to become a Mousketeer. The Mickey Mouse Club, which was televised on ABC from 1955-1959, featured 24 youngsters in its first season, including "Cubby", who was often paired with Karen, the youngest female Mouseketeer. The Mousketeers sang, danced, starred in filmed serials, introduced cartoons and provided an audience for the guest stars and talent acts on each hour-long show. Cubby, who also appeared in the Disney film, Westward Ho the Wagons (1956), went on to perform with Lawrence Welk, Spike Jones and the Carpenters. The professional studio drummer also occasionally tours with road productions. Lightly toned, creased and bowed. Photo gloss removed with eraser under signature; marks are visible. Otherwise in fine condition.
