CURTH FLATOW
He writes in German to a New Yorker, surprised that an American knows
of his existence, since he is unaware that any of his movies have played in New
York.
Typed Letter signed: "Curth Flatow", 1 page, 8¼x11¾.
Berlin, 1953 August 3. On personal letterhead to Ernest F. Manfred, New
York, N.Y. In German, fully translated: "I am very surprised to find
an admirer of my art in New York and can't imagine that in the USA actually
someone knows of my existence. I would be very grateful if you would write to me
full particulars about it. As far as I know there is up to now no movie starring
me that has been shown and even if an issue with me played in New York, it would
have long ago an English text. Please let me soon hear from you. Meanwhile I
remain as your very obedient". German writer Curth Flatow
(1920-2011) was producing plays and film scripts, mostly light comedies, from
the early 1950s. Although Internet Movie Database credits Flatow's work on
62 titles, few of these have English titles. He worked mainly on German
television in his later years, with his last credit dating from 2004. One
horizontal and one vertical fold. Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
