5x3 card affixed to an 8x5 piece of paper (two surfaces). Curtis Dwight
Wilbur (1867-1954), a Naval Academy graduate (1884), practiced law in
California, rising to the position of Chief Justice of the California Supreme
Court in 1918. As Secretary of the Navy (1924-1929) in the Coolidge
administration, Wilbur established the naval air force, a crucial component
of victory in the Pacific two decades later. After leaving this post he was
appointed to a federal judgeship. The guided missile destroyer Curtis
Wilbur was commissioned in 1994. Toned. Fine condition.
