Strange, born in 1955, is an American professional golfer who won two
consecutive U.S. Opens and was on five Ryder Cup teams. Strange began
golfing at an early age. He won the Virginia Junior Championship at age 15 and
then earned the Arnold Palmer Scholarship to play golf at Wake Forest
University, whom he led to NCAA titles in 1974 and 1975. He went pro in 1976 and
won his first Tour event in 1979, at the Pensacola Open. Strange won four
tournaments, including the U.S. Open, in 1988. He also became the first
golfer to earn $1 million in single-season winnings that year. He repeated his
win at the U.S. open in 1988. He didn't win again on the PGA Tour after 1989
and eventually left to become a TV golf analyst. He returned to professional
golf on the Champions Tour in 2005. Fine condition.
