Thanks for helping me out of the dumps./Love/Peggy King" in blue ink. 7¾x5¼. Magazine bio with photograph, b/w, 1x1, affixed at lower margin of verso beneath King's signature. CHARISSE (1921-2008, born Tula Ellice Finklea in Amarillo, Texas), one of film's best dancers, spent her childhood studying ballet. At age 13, she joined the Ballet Russe. Five years later, in 1940, during a tour of Europe, she married Nico Charisse, her ballet instructor; she was later married to Tony Martin. Charisse starred with Fred Astaire in The Band Wagon (1953) and Silk Stockings (1957) and with Gene Kelly in Words and Music (1948), Singin' in the Rain (1952), Brigadoon (1954), Deep in My Heart (1954), It's Always Fair Weather (1955) and Invitation to the Dance (1956). Charisse, Astaire and Kelly costarred in Ziegfeld Follies (1946). Singer and actress KING (born in 1930) made her debut as a singer in the 1952 film, The Bad and the Beautiful. She appeared in several other films, including Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (1955) and Zero Hour! (1957), but she is best known for appearing on The George Gobel Show (1954-1956), on which Gobel would introduce her as Pretty, Perky Peggy King. King also made guest appearances on several other TV shows, from Dragnet (1955) to The Mike Douglas Show (1967). Lightly creased. Light impression of writing at lower blank margin. Irregular left edge from removal of bound book. Otherwise in fine condition.
