Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "with best wishes/ Dabbs Greer" in black felt tip, b/w, 8x10. Dabbs Greer (1917-2007), born Robert William Greer, appeared in over 250 films and TV series throughout his acting career. Best known to TV audiences as Reverend Robert Alden on Little House on the Prairie (1974-1983), Greer's small screen credits also include being the first person saved by Superman on the TV series, Adventures of Superman (1952-1958). He was storekeeper Mr. Jonas on Gunsmoke (1955-1975) and the minister who married Mike and Carol Brady in a 1969 episode of The Brady Bunch (1969-1974). His other TV credits include early TV anthologies and roles on a number of classic series such as The Lone Ranger (1949-1957), Father Knows Best (1954-1960), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955-1962), The Restless Gun (1957-1959), The Rifleman (1958-1963), The Outer Limits (1963-1965), The Andy Griffith Show (1960-1968), and Perry Mason (1957-1966). Later in his career, Greer played Grandpa Fred Stage in Maybe It's Me (2001-2002). Greer's performances weren't merely limited to the small screen; after making his film debut as an extra in 1938, he would go on to appear in dozens of feature films including House of Wax (1953), Seven Angry Men (1955), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), The Spirit of St. Louis (1957), Johnny Tremain (1957), Shenandoah (1965), White Lightning (1973), Con Air (1997), and The Green Mile (1999).
