DAISY GREENE; EDWARD LOXLEY-FIRTH
The musical comedy star and veteran of two World Wars sign opposite
sides of a strip of printed quotations.
Signature: "Daisy Greene", and on verso "E.
Loxley-Firth", 3½x1½. Ink signature on a strip clipped from a book of
quotations. Broadway actress DAISY GREENE debuted in Floradora
(1900-1902), and appeared in 10 Broadway musicals through 1909 (Havana).
She was featured in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1908. EDWARD
LOXLEY-FIRTH (1886-1949) was a first-class cricketer for Yorkshire
County before serving in the British Army in World War I, rising to the rank
of brigadier general. Moving to the US in 1923, he joined the US Army Air
Force in World War II, rising to the rank of major, wounded by anti-aircraft
fire while on a reconnaissance flight over Europe in a B-17. Toned. Irregularly
cut edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
