California, 1968 December 16. The actress/singer hires the William Morris
Agency, Inc. to be her "sole and exclusive agent and representative" for
a period of two years, beginning on June 2, 1968. Also signed by a

California Mother of the Year. During the term of this contract, Evans
appeared on The Dean Martin Show (September 1967) and she and her
husband, Roy Rogers, hosted the CMA Awards in 1968. Dale Evans
(1912-2001), born Frances Octavia Smith, who would become known as the "Queen
of the West", started her career as a singer on radio and in nightclubs.
After moving to Hollywood, she found few roles at the major studios, but became
a Western star with Republic Studios, often cast with singing cowboy Roy Rogers
(1911-1998), born Leonard Slye. Rogers and Evans, who co-starred in such films
as The Cowboy and the Senorita (1944), The Yellow
Rose of Texas (1944), Don't Fence Me In (1945), My
Pal Trigger (1946) and Apache Rose (1947) were married in
1947, the year after the death of Rogers' first wife and the end of Evans'
marriage. The couple starred on television on The Roy Rogers Show
(1951-1957) and The Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Show
(1962-1963), which closed with their theme song, "Happy Trails to
You", written by Evans. They were a devoted couple with many children (many
of whom they adopted) and grandchildren. Evans, who also authored several
inspirational books, later hosted a religious program. Lightly creased. Staples
at upper left corner, 2 file holes at upper margin. Fine
