IRENE VANBRUGH, CO-SIGNED BY: JENNIE GREGSON
Signed sepia-toned picture postcard of Vanbrugh from the chest up and seated in a lace gown. Mounted on an album leaf signed with "All good wishes" by Jennie Gregson of the comedy duo Goodfellow & Gregson.
Picture postcard signed "Irene Vanbrugh" and, signed on verso of mounting album leaf, "All good wishes/Jennie Gregson/(Goodfellow & Gregson)". B/w sepia-toned, 3½x5¼ postcard with 3¼x4¾ image, mounted on 4¼x7 album leaf. Postcard by Elliott & Fry Ltd. Postcard captioned: "Miss Irene Vanbrugh". IRENE VANBRUGH (1872-1948, born Irene Barnes in Exeter, England) was a major British stage actress, particularly prominent in the plays of Peter Pan author J. M. Barrie. She played supporting roles in ten films of the 1930s, and was named a Dame Commander of the British Empire in 1941. GEORGE GOODFELLOW and JENNIE GREGSON made up the comedy duo of GOODFELLOW & GREGSON. Lightly toned and rippled. Pen skipped while signing Vanbrugh's signature, but it is still legible. Postcard has light scuff marks on image. Album leaf is lightly soiled and stained. Adhesive shows through on Gregson's side of leaf, which touches signature, and has light paper loss. Discolored along top, right and bottom edges. Leaf was neatly torn from album, with binding remnants, on one edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
