DAN DAILEY
He inscribes and signs a 5x3 card with typed caption and his newspaper photo.
Inscribed signature: "To Jim/Dan Dailey", 5x3 card. Typed captions above and below signature. Newspaper photo (b/w, 1x1) in lower right. Ink note on verso (unknown hand): "St. Regis Hotel/July 24, 1952". Actor and dancer Dan Dailey moved from vaudeville to Broadway (Babes in Arms, 1937) to Hollywood. Recipient of a Best Actor Oscar nomination for When My Baby Smiles at Me (1948), he also appeared in such films as Meet Me at the Fair (1952), The Pride of St. Louis (as pitcher Dizzy Dean, 1952) and It's Always Fair Weather (1955). Dailey also appeared on television in such series as The Governor and J.J. (1969). There is disagreement about Dailey's year of birth. All Movie Guide says he was born in 1917, while Internet Broadway Database gives his birth as 1913. The caption on this card halves the difference. Slightly soiled. Lightly rippled in upper right from mounting adhesive attaching newspaper clipping on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
