of Congress of the United States, House of Representatives to Mr. John S. Bush,
Jr., United States Gypsum Company, Washington, D.C. In full: "Thank
you for sending me a copy of your Annual Report. This is indeed a great record,
especially as it pertains to productivity. We have just completed a study of
the military industrial base, and one of our concerns in (sic, is)
the inability of that base to produce efficiently. I am mighty proud of
the people who operate your Danville facility. You are a good corporate
neighbor. All of you have my continuing best wishes. Very sincerely".
Daniel served on the Armed Services Committee and was Chairman of its
Military Readiness subcommittee. Dan Daniel (1914-1988), born Wilbur
Clarence Daniel, was a Democratic U.S. Representative from Virginia from
1969 until his death in office in 1988. A veteran of WWII, Daniel had previously
served in the Virginia State House of Delegates (1959-1968). Lightly
creased with folds, not at signature. Pin holes at upper left margin, date stamp
at upper right edge, pencil check mark at right margin. Fine
condition.
