Original art unsigned.Labels affixed to bottom edge, in left corners and on verso. Blue pencil notations along edges and lead pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. 17x11½ with 1-inch strip of heavy paper taped to left edge and ¾-inch embossed seal in top right corner, drawn on cardstock. Credit labels in left corners. ©1993 Archie Publications, Inc. Dated in blue pencil in unknown hand: "May 2nd 1993". This is a four-panel strip by "Gallagher/&/DeCarlo" giving readers a chance to designed new hairstyles for Betty and Veronica. DeCARLO (1919-2001, born in New Rochelle, New York) got his start in cartooning during World War II. He worked on various titles before being hired by Archie Comics in 1957. DeCarlo remained with the comic until he was fired in 2000 and became principal artist for Archie Comics after the death of creator Bob Montana in 1975. He also worked on the comic book's TV spinoff The Archies (1968-1969) and created the TV cartoon Josie and the Pussycats (1970-1972) and the live action show Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996-2003). GALLAGHER is a comic book artist who has contributed work to Mad, Archie Comics and Marvel Comics, as well as comic books based on the video game Sonic the Hedgehog and TV show Alf. Lightly toned, smudged, soiled and creased. Normal pencil tracings. Rounded corners. Paper strip at left has been torn at left edge and has light tear in bottom edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
