Typed Letter signed: "Dan Duryea", 1p, 7¼x10¾. Hollywood, California, 1953 February 23. On his personal letterhead to Mrs. Keith Reynolds, Kansas City. Kansas. Begins: "Dear Elsa". In full: "Thanks for your note. Enclosed is your signed membership card and your club picture [not present]. And indeed welcome for another year with our wonderful group. I do appreciate your work as editor of our Society Page which plays such an important part. Good luck. Perhaps all the United States will have good television soon . . . hope so. In the meantime, thank you for your good wishes. Hope you and the family are well! Mt regards and best wishes to you all. Sincerely". Dan Duryea (1907-1968), known for his bad-guy roles, was cast as the sniveling Leo Hubbard in 1939's The Little Foxes. This Broadway production was converted into a film in 1941, with many members of the original cast--including Duryea--making their Hollywood debuts. Duryea continued playing supporting roles in films until he scored in 1945's The Woman in the Window. Thereafter, he was given star billing, most often as a heavy. In 1968, shortly before his death from a recurring heart ailment, Duryea was cast as Eddie Jacks in 67 episodes of TV's Peyton Place. In Sky Commando (1953), Duryea played an unpopular commanding officer who turned heroic in the end. Lightly shaded. Fold creases through signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
