DAN REEVES
Shown as head coach of the Denver Broncos in this black and white photograph
Inscribed Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "To Ted,/ My Best Always/ Dan Reeves" in blue
ink, b/w 8x10. Dan Reeves (1944-2022) played halfback for the Dallas Cowboys from
1965-1972, gaining a career 1,990 yards rushing and 1,693 yards receiving. The Cowboys
made the playoffs every year while Reeves played with them, and the team won the Super
Bowl in 1971. Reeves later served as head coach of three NFL teams: the Denver Broncos,
the New York Giants and the Atlantic Falcons. He was twice honored as Coach of the Year.
A protégé of the great Tom Landry, Reeves became the youngest head coach in the NFL when
he was hired to coach the Denver Broncos. After the team acquired John Elway in a trade,
the Broncos went on to make six playoff runs, secure three AFC championships, and
appear in three Super Bowls: XXI, XXII, and XXIV. From 1993-1996, he served as head
coach for the New York Giants. Reeves was fired after two consecutive losing seasons. In
1997, he became the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. In 1998, he and the Falcons had
the greatest season in franchise history, going 14-2 and winning the NFC championship
game. However, they lost to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXIII. He stayed in Atlanta
until 2003 when he asked to be released after bringing them to only one playoff appearance in
the five years following their Super Bowl loss. Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
