DANE CLARK. Carbon Partly Printed DS: "Dane Clark" in ink
as Performer and initialed: "DC" twice on riders affixed to
verso of document, 2p, 8½x11, front and verso, with 8½x2¼ and 8½x7¼ riders. No
place, 1957 November 21. Headed: "Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract for
Single Television Broadcast/and for Multiple Television Broadcasts Within One
Calendar Week". Clark contracts with CBS Television for a guest appearance on
Playhouse 90. He was to be paid $4,000 plus round-trip transportation
from New York for his performance, which was to take place on January 2, 1958 at
CBS Theatres or Studios in Los Angeles. Also signed by a representative
of CBS Television, who has also initialed twice beneath Clark's initials
on the riders. Clark starred as Saul Leventhal in the episode, "Reunion",
which aired on Playhouse 90 on January 2, 1958. In the year he signed
this document, Clark appeared in one feature film, Outlaw's Son. He also
made his last appearances on his TV series, Wire Service (1956-1957), but
he was a guest star on Climax! and two TV anthology series, Jane Wyman
Presents The Fireside Theatre and Studio 57. Clark would continue to
guest star in anthologies such as Schlitz Playhouse of Stars and
Studio One and make guest appearances on other TV series in 1958. Dane
Clark (1915-1998) usually played a tough guy, often one from his native
Brooklyn, in war and western movies of the 1940s and 1950s. His most highly
regarded films included Moonrise (1948) and Go, Man, Go (1954).
Clark also starred in the TV series Bold Venture (1959), and he made
guest appearances on such programs as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The
Twilight Zone and The Untouchables. Lightly creased with folds, not
at signatures. ¼-inch tear at blank right margin at lower horizontal fold.
Staples and two file holes at upper blank margin, staple holes at blank left
margin. Light show through of type on verso. Riders are lightly creased. Stapled
at upper blank margins, staple holes at blank left margins. Overall, fine
condition.
