Signature: "D. D. Pratt/Indiana", 3½x2¼. Daniel D. Pratt
(1813-1877), formerly a lawyer and state legislator, represented
Indiana in the US Senate for one term (1871-1877), after which he was
appointed Commissioner of Internal Revenue by President Grant. In the
Senate he chaired the Committee on Pensions, a very important committee in the
aftermath of the Civil War. Toned, esp. heavy on outer margins. Corners lightly
worn. Faint stains towards left margin. Slight paper loss on verso. Otherwise,
fine condition.
