Daniel Joseph Boorstin (1914-2004) was an American author, historian, professor and lawyer who served as the U.S. Librarian of Congress from 1975-1987. With degrees from Harvard, Oxford and Yale University, Boorstin taught at the University of Chicago for 25 years. His 1961 book The Image: A guide to Pseudo-events in America is one of the earliest examples of postmodernism.
