Inouye (1927-2012) has been Congressman (1959-1963) and Senator (since 1963) of Hawaii since statehood. The Democrat was one of the seven members of the Senate Watergate Committee whose investigations led to President Nixon's resignation. The first Japanese-American to serve in Congress, Inouye was awarded the Medal of Honor for combat actions with the U.S. Army in Italy in World War II, during which he lost his right arm.DIRECTLY FROM THE SALE OF THE ESTATE OF DANIEL PATRICK MOYNIHAN (1927-2003) who represented New York in the U.S. Senate from 1977-2001.
