Schorr (1916-2010) was first paid for a news story at the age of 12 when he
reported a story to the Bronx Home News. He served in Army Intelligence
during WWII and joined CBS News in 1953. Covering international affairs - his
exclusive interview with Nikita Khrushchev (1957) aired on Face the
Nation. In the 1970's, Schorr made Nixon's Enemies List with his
Watergate investigations and won Emmys for his reporting in 1972, 1973 and 1974.
In 1976, he released information on illegal CIA and FBI activities (Pike
Committee report) and then refused to identify his source to Congress. In 1977
he became a White House correspondent of ITNA and moved to CNN in 1979. Joining
NPR in 1985, he remained their Senior News Analyst until his death at age 93.
Schorr had five books published (1970-2007) and earned the Edward R. Murrow
Award for Lifetime Achievement in Broadcasting (2002). Lightly toned.
