DANIEL R. FRAZIER
The Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons illustrator responds to a letter from a retired teacher asking for an "inspiring message", writing "Slaying a dragon is easy, it's finding the dragon that is hard". He then goes on to elaborate what his quote means
Typed letter signed: "Daniel Frazier", in blue ink, 8½x11. May 1, 2001. Accompanied by unsigned postcard featuring one of Frazier's illustrations. In part: "Hello Irene, I am happy to hear that you have retired. I also am a retired teacher. It sounds like you have an interesting project. I do wonder a bit at how my name found itself on your celebrity list. My art work in the gaming field appeals mostly to young adolescent males, not retired teachers. The inspiring message...well let's see...ummm... "Slaying a dragon is easy, it's finding the dragon that is hard." -Dan Frazier Life is full of struggles. We encounter difficult situations all the time. Our energies and entire lives may be lost to waring with the mundane. We need to avoid the unnecessary conflict that spoil the lives we have". A former school teacher, Daniel R. Frazier (b. 1945) is best known for his fantasy artwork, which has been used in several fantasy role playing and card games. He illustrated the original cover to the White Wolf pen and paper Vampire: The Masquerade, two Dungeons and Dragons books, and over 100 Magic the Gathering cards. Originally started as a part-time gig, Frazier is now a full time illustrator, and occasionally appears at conventions and gatherings. Light surface creases. Normal mailing folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
