Autograph letter signed "Daniel S. Lamont". Pencil notations in unknown hand. 2 pages, 4½x6¾, 1 sheet folded, front and verso, on U. S. Secretary of War stationery. Dated "November 11th". Addressed to Mr. Julian Ralph. In full: "My Dear Ralph: I hope you won't get away from me this time and I shall be delighted to see Remington. Come to my house 1607 H. Street at eleven o'clock to-morrow - sincerely yours". JULIAN RALPH (1853-1903) was an author and journalist. DANIEL S. LAMONT (1851-1905) was President Grover Cleveland's Secretary of War from 1893 to 1897. Lamont was also his private secretary when Cleveland was Governor of New York (1883-1885). Lightly toned, soiled and creased. Body of letter, but not signature, has bled lightly in places but is legible. Ink transference inside letter (does not touch signature). Folded in half and unfolded. Otherwise, fine condition.
