Check no. 178 drawn from the account of St. Jude Hospital Foundation Inc. at City National Bank in Beverly Hills, California. Payable for $2,500 to Maury Foladare (endorsed on verso). Danny Thomas (1912-1991) debuted onscreen in 1947 in The Unfinished Dance, beginning a brief film career in corny leads or supporting comic roles. He was much more successful on TV, starring in the long-running sitcom Make Room for Daddy (1953-1965), later re-named The Danny Thomas Show. He also was featured in a number of TV specials and made guest appearances on several variety shows. Entering production in the 1950s, Thomas was a producer for American classics The Andy Griffith Show (1960-1968), The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966), Gomer Pyle: USMC (1964-1969), and Mod Squad (1968-1973). He founded the St. Jude's Research Hospital, which is dedicated to finding cures for catastrophic children's diseases. Edges perforated. Ink bank stamps throughout. Corners rounded. Toned.
