Check signed: "Danny Thomas", 8½x3½. No place, 1976 October 25. Check No. 1670, drawn on the account of Rosemarie Productions Inc. at City National Bank, Beverly Hills, California, payable to Paulette Martinson for $52.39. Endorsed on verso: "Paulette Martinson/[seven numbers]". In the year he signed this check, Thomas began starring as Dr. Jules Bedford on the TV series, The Practice (1976-1977), and he also appeared as himself on the TV special, CBS Salutes Lucy: The First 25 Years. Film and television actor Danny Thomas (1914-1991), born Amos Muzyad Jahoob, debuted onscreen in 1947, going on to a brief film career in corny lead roles or comic supporting parts. He was much more successful on TV, starring in the long-running sitcom Make Room for Daddy (later re-named The Danny Thomas Show). Thomas also starred in a number of specials and made guest appearances on variety shows. In the late 1950s Thomas began producing for TV (his production company was named for his wife, Rose Marie Mantell Thomas). He produced such series as The Andy Griffith Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Gomer Pyle and The Mod Squad. Thomas also founded the St. Jude's Research Hospital, which is dedicated to finding cures for catastrophic children's diseases. He is the father of actress Marlo Thomas and producer and actor Tony Thomas, who both continued his work in support of St. Jude's. Slightly creased. Bank stamp on front (not at signature). Bank stamp on verso at the "e" of Paulette and at last name and last four digits of numbers, light show through at lower left portion of front. Minor stains at lower right corner. Overall, fine condition.
