His Warner Bros. contract signed in 1952.
Contract signed: "Danny Thomas" in ink, 1p, 8½x11. Burbank,
California, 1952 May 12. Contract in letter form from Warner Bros., signed
by an assistant secretary, to Thomas, modifying his employment agreement of
December 15, 1951. In part: "Due to circumstances known to each of us,
and of our mutual consent thereto, it is hereby agreed between us that the
commencement date of your service for us in connection with the first motion
picture to be produced by us under said employment agreement of December 15,
1951 shall be, and is hereby deemed to be, July 14, 1952 instead and in lieu of
the date specified in said third sub-paragraph of paragraph 3 of said employment
agreement...." Danny Thomas (1912-1991) debuted onscreen in 1947 in
The Unfinished Dance, beginning a brief film career in corny leads or
supporting comic roles. He was much more successful on TV, starring in the
long-running sitcom Make Room for Daddy (later re-named The Danny
Thomas Show). He also was featured in a number of TV specials and made guest
appearances on variety shows. Entering production in the 1950's, Thomas was
producer for American classics The Andy Griffith Show, The Dick Van
Dyke Show, Gomer Pyle and The Mod Squad. He founded the St.
Jude's Research Hospital, which is dedicated to finding cures for catastrophic
children's diseases. He is the father of actress Marlo Thomas. Lightly
creased and soiled. Small nick at upper blank margin. Overall, fine
condition.
