Thomas (1912-1991) had starred as composer Gus Kahn in Warner Bros. 1951 biopic I'll See You in My Dreams. His only movie under this new contract was that of Jerry Golding, the son of a cantor, in Warner Bros.' 1952 adaptation of The Jazz Singer, with Thomas playing the Al Jolson role. In 1953, Thomas starred in a new television series for ABC, Make Room for Daddy. Switching to CBS in 1957, the situation comedy ran for 11 years until 1964. One of the few sitcoms to last more than a decade, it won an Emmy for Thomas and ended his movie career. Two items.
