Light pink card signed "Yours sincerely" by du Maurier in blue ink
Signature: "Yours sincerely/Daphne duMaurier" in blue ink. 4½x3½ card.
English novelist du Maurier (1907-1989) found commercial success with
Jamaica Inn (1936), which was filmed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1939. It
was her suspenseful Rebecca, however, written in 1938 and called the
first major Gothic novel of the 20th century that brought critical and popular
acclaim to both du Maurier and Hitchcock. The film version won the
Academy Award for Best Picture in 1940. Hitchcock later brought her short
story, The Birds (1952), to the big screen (1963). Slightly nicked at
upper blank edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
