Fry, The Dark is Light Enough is a comedy set in a country home in the
Austro-Hungarian Empire during the Hungarian revolution of 1848-1849. It
opened on February 23, 1955 at the ANTA Playhouse in New York City, closing
after 69 performances on April 23rd. Produced by KATHERINE CORNELL
(1898-1974) and Roger L. Stevens, the play starred Cornell as Countess Rosmarin
Ostenburg and TYRONE POWER (1914-1958) as Richard Gettner, an Austrian in
the Hungarian rebel army. In 1936, Cornell had given 21-year-old Tyrone Power
his start in the theatre as an understudy at $30 a week. Slightly worn at
edges. Ink stamps on verso (no show through). Fine condition.
