The Motown singer who also appeared in the Lethal Weapon films inscribes and signs
this black and white photo
Inscribed Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "To/ Zippy's/ Love of Love/ Darlene Love" in black
ink, b/w, 8x10. Although she is perhaps not as well known as some of her fellow Motown
singers, Darlene Love (b. 1938), born Darlene Wright, and her girl group, The Blossoms,
were important players in the Phil Spector music organization. Love sang backup with many
artists including Bobby Darin, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, and Cher.
She also sang the lead on the hit single "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Leader of the Pack"
which were credited to the Crystals. In fact, Love won a quarter of a million dollars in
back royalties from Spector in a 1997 lawsuit. Love and the Blossoms were regulars on TV's
Shindig (1964-1966). Moreover, Love has appeared in several Broadway musicals,
performing a show-stopping version of "Mountain High, Valley Low" in the Tony
Award-nominated Leader of the Pack (1985). In addition to her singing career, Love played
the wife of Danny Glover's character in all four of the Lethal Weapon movies (1987-1998).
