Cone pitched in Game 3 of the 1998 Fall Classic. Cone, born in 1963,won 196 Major League games in his 17 seasons (1986-2003). He played mostly
in New York: 7 seasons with the Mets and 6 with the Yankees. A 5-time
All-Star, Cone won 20 games twice (20-3 with the Mets in 1988 and 20-7 with the
Yankees in 1998). He led the league in strikeouts two consecutive
seasons (1990-1991). He won the Cy Young Award with the Kansas City
Royals in the strike-shortened 1994 season. He pitched in 21 postseason
games, and was on 5 World Championship teams (Blue Jays 1992, Yankees 1996,
1998-2000), and pitched the only perfect game in inter-league play
(1999) since Don Larsen's perfecto in the 1956 World Series. Cone
had a following of devoted fans who called themselves "Coneheads," playing off
the Saturday Night Live skit series. Lightly toned, soiled
and scuffed. Light scratches, which touch signature. Otherwise in fine
condition.
