Special cover marking Game 3 of the 1989 World Series, postmarked San Francisco, California, October 27, 1989 (the place and date of the game), 25-cent Lou Gehrig stamp affixed. Cachet shows Stewart, the winning pitcher of a game delayed 10 days by the Bay area earthquake. Dave Stewart, who pitched for 5 teams in a 15-year Major League career (1981-1995), threw for 3 teams in the World Series: the Dodgers (1981), the Blue Jays (1993), but especially the A's (1988-1990). He was the Most Valuable Player of the 1989 Series, winning 2 games in the A's 4-game sweep of the Giants. He was also named to the All-Star team that year, on his way to the second of four consecutive 20-game winning seasons. Lower right corner creased. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
