Baseball Bat signed: "Dave Parker NL MVP 78". Rawlings "Big Stick"
Professional Model bat, signed on the barrel in blue sharpie. Dave Parker (b.
1951) was the first major leaguer to earn a million dollar salary. An
outfielder, he played in the bigs from 1973 to 1991, mostly with the Pittsburgh
Pirates, and was on two World Series-winning rosters: 1979's "We Are Family"
Pirates and the 1989 Oakland Athletics. Parker was the National League's
Most Valuable Player in 1978, when he led the league in batting average (.334)
and slugging (.585). He was awarded three Silver Slugger awards
(1985, 1986 and 1990) and three Golden Gloves (1977-1979) and was voted
to seven All-Star teams (1977, 1979-1981, 1985, 1986 and 1990), earning
All-Star MVP honors in 1979. Parker also led the NL in batting average
twice (1977 and 1978), slugging twice (1975 and 1978), hits
once (1977), doubles twice (1977 and 1985) and RBIs once
(1985). After retiring, he was a first base coach for the Anaheim Angels and
batting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals. Fine condition.
