Baseball signed: "Dave Winfield". Official Major League (Selig) baseball, signed in blue ink in the sweet spot. Only 27 hitters in the history of Major League Baseball have reached the plateau of 3,000 hits. (Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds were among those who didn't reach it.) Dave Winfield (born 1951) topped that mark near the end of the 1993 season, his 21st year in the Majors. His team, the Minnesota Twins, collected the balls he hit during the countdown to 3,000, and had him sign them. This ball was acquired from the Twins organization. By the time he retired two years later, Winfield had amassed 3,110 hits, 465 home runs and 1,833 RBIs, putting him in a class with the greatest sluggers. Winfield was voted an All-Star in 12 consecutive seasons (1977-1988), and he led the League in RBIs in 1979. Winfield also played for the San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, California Angels, Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians (1995). The recipient of seven Gold Glove Awards, he was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001, his first year of eligibility. PSA/DNA Autograph grade: 9. Baseball grade: 10. Overall grade: 9.5.
