The actor writes a brief letter in response to a request for an autograph, stating the he wants to be sure he hasn't been confused for actor Dan Aykroyd
Typed Letter signed: "David Ackroyd", 1p, 8½x11. North Hollywood, California, 1984 June 26. To Mr. Todd M. Axelrod, The American Museum of Historical Documents, Las Vegas, Nevada. In full: "As I am often mistaken, due to the similarity of our names, for my more famous colleague, Dan Aykroyd, I always make it a point in cases like this to try to avoid confusion. If in fact it is Dan you wished to contact, you have reached the wrong Ackroyd/Aykroyd (the names are pronounced the same, but, as you can see, spelled differently). If not, I am very flattered to be included in your museum and enclose herein a signed copy of a script from 'AfterMASH' the series on which I currently play a continuing role, and the requested photo and a resumé of my past work." [Enclosures mentioned not included.] David Ackroyd (b. 1940) broke into television on the daytime dramas Secret Storm (1971-1974) and Another World (1974-1977). Afterwards he appeared frequently as a series guest and in made for TV movies, but the series in which he appeared, including Little Women (1979) and After M*A*S*H (1984) didn't have much success. Since 2003 Ackroyd has taught theater at a community college in Montana. Fine condition.
