David Belasco signs a card.
Signature: "Faithfully/David Belasco/March 12th 1919", 3½x2¼
card. David Belasco (1859-1931), "the Bishop of Broadway," was widely known
for his success in developing the talents of actors and for his methods of stage
setting and lighting. Also a playwright, his 1900 play, Madame
Butterfly, was the source of Puccini's opera. Belasco managed the
Madison Square and Lyceum Theatres in New York and his own theatre, the Belasco
Theatre on 44th Street near Broadway, from 1906 until his death in 1931.
Mounting remnants at corners on verso lightly show through. "M" of March
nipped. Fine condition.
