First Day Cover signed: "David/Berg", 6½x3½. FDC celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, postmarked Baltimore, Maryland, February 28, 1952, 3-cent stamp affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. David Berg (1920-2002) learned the cartoon business as an assistant to Will Eisner. A war correspondent during World War II, Berg later drew several popular comic strips, including Captain Marvel and Archie. Beginning in 1956, he began drawing the "Lighter Side" series for MAD magazine, basing the character Roger Kaputnik on himself. Berg's 17 books sold over 10 million copies. Lightly soiled on verso. Fine condition.
