Duncan's signature on a trading card, showing him as a very young
catcher for the Oakland Athletics
Trading/sports card signed: "Dave Duncan", in blue felt tip,
2½x3½. Former MLB catcher Dave Duncan (b. 1945) turned professional in
1964, playing for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics, Cleveland Indians, and
Baltimore Orioles. Duncan debuted at the age of 18, becoming the youngest
player in the American League at the time, playing only briefly in the
majors at first in order to keep him from being drafted. He began playing full
time in 1967, earning a career .214 batting average, 109 home runs, and 341
RBI. After retiring from play in 1976, Duncan began coaching, becoming
pitching coach for the Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners, Chicago White Sox,
Oakland Athletics, and St. Louis Cardinals. In 2013, the Arizona
Diamondbacks hired Duncan as a pitching coach, further extending his 50 year
career in baseball. Corners lightly worn and creased. Slightly toned. Fine
condition.
