DAVID EDWARDSEN
Friend of John Willis, editor of Theatre World, thanks John for the book and for another invitation to the Theatre World Awards
Autograph letter signed: "David" in black ink. 4½x6¾ folded, 13½x6¾ flat. Envelope included. In full: "John - You are too much. First the book - and then another invitation to the awards. Thanks a million for both. Please forgive me for not tanking you for the book earlier but with teaching and school - well you know how it goes. Along with this I am delving into photography. Would it be 'OK' if I brought a camera to the awards? If not - what with regular photo men there - well that's OK too. I'll call you next week. Well, good luck with it all - and thanks again for the book and the invitation. Fantastic!". No further information on this signer has been found. John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Ink shows through other side of paper. Corners rounded. Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
