DAVID HALL
Head and shoulders image of the Oklahoma Governor, convicted of
federal racketeering charges two months after leaving office
Photograph signed: "David Hall". B/w, 8¼x10¾. David Hall
(born in 1930), a U.S. Air Force veteran and attorney was the Democratic
Governor of Oklahoma from 1971-1975. Three days after leaving office in
January 1975, he was indicted on federal racketeering and extortion
charges. Convicted two months later, Hall became the first Oklahoma
Governor to be convicted of criminal acts committed while in office.
Ironically, Hall had previously served as Assistant County Attorney for
Tulsa County (Oklahoma) from 1959-1962, and he was Tulsa District
Attorney (1962-1966). After serving 19 months of a three-year sentence, Hall
was disbarred by the Oklahoma Bar Association. He later moved to La
Jolla, California, where he became a successful sales executive. Corners and
edges slightly worn. Light surface creases. Bottom left corner creased. Ink
notes (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
