DAVID HOLLIDAY
A letter from the actor saying he looks forward to meeting someone in the future, presumably John Willis, Editor of Theatre World.
Autograph note signed: "David Holliday", 5x8. In full: "Looking forward to meeting you at some future date, and thanking you once again for this honor. Yours truly". David Holliday (1932-1999) was an American actor of stage fame, most well-known for his role in Man of La Mancha (1965) as the day matinee version of Don Quixote. However, this was not his only role, as he appeared in several other Broadway and off-Broadway plays, including a starring role as Tony in London's West End version of West Side Story. Stage work was truly his passion, and it showed, earning a number of nominations and wins for his work, including four wins for Carbonell Awards for Best Actor in a musical. He never made many screen or film appearances, though he did appear as Vigil Tracy in the television series Thunderbirds (1965). Sadly, Holliday passed away in 1999 from cancer. Theatre World, founded in 1945 by Daniel Blum, is America's oldest annual record of Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional theatre, referenced by industry professionals, historians, students and theatre fans worldwide. Until 1998, when a separate nonprofit corporation was established, Theatre World's editorial staff bestowed the prestigious Theatre World Awards for outstanding Broadway and Off-Broadway debuts. Screen World (from 1950) and Dance World (from 1966), administered from the same office, also furnished comprehensive information on those entertainment genres. Fine condition.
