to "Dear Mr. Voegler" Doug Voegler, Lincoln, Nebraska, in full:
"Thank you for your letter of August 27, 1970, which I appreciate. With
regards, I am, Sincerely yours,". David Kirkpatrick Este Bruce
(1898-1977), professionally known as David K.E. Bruce was the only
American to serve as Ambassador to France (1949-1952), the Republic of
Germany (1957-1959) and the United Kingdom (1961-1969). He also was
the Under Secretary of State (1952-1953), Chief of the U.S. Liaison Office in
Beijing (1973-1974) and U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO (1974-1976).
