Autograph Letter Signed: “David Schoenbrun”. 11x6 ½ unfolded (6½x3¾
folded). Dated August 4, 1980. Sent to Henry J. Lohrengel Jr. in Kansas City,
Missouri. In Full: “Many thanks for forwarding the clipping-review of my book. My
N.Y. office forwarded it to me where I am vacationing in Switzerland. / I am
sending you this note instead of signing the review, which is too bulky for me to
mail from overseas. I hope this letter will serve as well for your autograph
collection.” David Schoenbrun (1915-1988) published his well-researched book
Soldiers of the Night: The Story of the French Resistance early in the year.
He published another eight books, one posthumously. During WWII,
Schoenbrun worked as a war correspondent in North Africa until France was
liberated. Upon the end of the war, the writer lived in Paris and worked for CBS
until 1964. He then returned to the United States as a news analyst for various
radio stations in New York City and, for a short time, in Los Angeles. Edges
frayed. Irregular cut. Worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
