DAVID SOUL
The television actor signs his name with "much Joy" on this black and white photograph
Photograph signed: "With much Joy/David Soul", in blue ink, B/w 8x10. David Soul (b. 1943) is an American-born actor with dual British citizenship. He's probably best known as Det. Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson, one-half of the detective duo Starsky and Hutch (a role that earned him a shared Favorite Crimestopper Duo nomination at the 2004 TV Land Awards, not to mention a Most Uninsurable Driver nomination in 2005). But Soul has a long acting and producing career, appearing in over 70 movies and TV shows. Star Trek fans, for instance, may remember Soul as Makora from the original series episode The Apple (1967), while horror fans may know him as Ben Mears, the hero in the TV adaptation of Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot (1979). He was also a singer in the 1970s and 1980s and sang several hits, including the chart-topping single Don't Give Up on Us in 1976. Soul moved to London in the 1990s and began his career on the West End stage, including the role of Arthur Pennington in the 2004 production Agatha Christie's Poirot: Death on the Nile and taking over the title role the same year in Jerry Springer: The Opera. Corners slightly worn. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
