Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/Best wishes/from/David Tomlinson". B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink note on verso dates signature: 05/24/1952. Promotional photo for the film Broken Journey (1948). British actor David Tomlinson (1917-2000) is best remembered for his role as George Banks in Walt Disney's Mary Poppins (1964). Following his success in that role, the character actor went on to appear in the Disney films The Love Bug (1968) and Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971). A stage actor since 1935, Tomlinson appeared in some 50 films, including Pimpernel Smith (1941), Calling Bulldog Drummond (1951), Tom Jones (1963) and The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu (1980, his last film). In 1976, he made a guest appearance on TV's Hawaii Five-O. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Otherwise, Fine condition.
