David Wells (b. 1963) will probably be best remembered for pitching a perfect game with the New York Yankees against the Minnesota Twins on May 17, 1998. The feat made him one of only 18 pitchers in major league history and only the third Yankee pitcher to hurl a perfecto. His major league career stretched from 1987 to 2007 and was marked by three All-Star appearances (1995, 1998 and 2000), two championship teams (1992 Toronto Blue Jays and 1998 Yankees), nine seasons with 15 or more wins (1991, 1995, 1997-2000, 2002, 2003 and 2005) and one with 20 or more wins (2000). Wells also led the American League in win-loss percentage and shutouts in 1998, complete games and innings pitched in 1999 and wins and games started in 2000. In all, he had ERA of 4.13 with 239 wins, 157 losses, 12 shutouts and 2,201 strikeouts. The 1998 Yankees under manager Joe Torre, were one of the greatest baseball teams of all times, finishing 114-48 in the regular season and charging through the postseason 11-2. They swept the San Diego Padres 4-0 in the World Series. Fine condition.
