originally a TV movie) follows the plot of the Geoffrey Household novel of the same name.
Starring Richard Boone and Patty Duke, An Iron Curtain defector Anton Solea (Boone) who
has been living as a wine grower in California discovers that Soviet agents are stalking him. He
is accompanied by peace activist Jenny (Duke) who tags along as he searches for an escape.
Richard Boone (1917-1981) starred in many roles throughout his career but is
best known as Paladin from Have Gun - Will Travel (1957-1963). The show
ran for an incredible 225 episodes. He also appeared in some of the biggest
Western films of all time, including Big Jake (1971) and The Shootist (1976).
After he proved his popularity after Medic (1954-1956) and Have Gun - Will
Travel, he earned the opportunity to star in his own anthology series titled The
Richard Boone Show (1963-1964). Towards the end of his career, he made one
of his more unique contributions to a production: he voiced Smaug the dragon
in The Hobbit (1977), an adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkien novel. Appearing in
her first film at age eight (I'll Cry Tomorrow, 1955), Patty Duke (1946-2016) earned an
Oscar as Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Helen Keller in The Miracle
Worker (1962). Seventeen years after this award-winning performance, she portrayed Anne
Sullivan in a TV movie remake. As the star of The Patty Duke Show (1963-1966), she
portrayed identical twins. Other film credits include Billie (1965), Me, Natalie (1969), and
Willy/Milly (1986). Her son Sean Astin is also an actor; he famously portrayed Sam Gamgee
in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Duke was the first female president of the Screen
Actors Guild (1985-1988). Over the course of her long and celebrated career, she won
an Oscar, two Golden Globes, and three Emmys. Fine condition.
