(1866-1924) was an American zoologist, public official and overall authority
on the Philippines. From 1899 to 1901 he served as a member of the United
States Philippine Commission, and eventually secretary of the interior for the
Insular Government, the territorial government implemented by the U.S.
Worcester founded the Philippine General Hospital in 1910, which has become a
hospital for the poor. He has written works about the Philippines, including
The Philippine Islands and Their People (1898), The Non-Christian
Tribes of Northern Luzon (1906), and The Philippines Past and Present
(1913). Toned. Slightly worn and soiled. Ink notes in unknown hand.
