DEAN JAGGER
B/w photo of Oscar and Daytime Emmy-winning actor Dean Jagger in a cowboy outfit, signed "Hope you are all Happy"
Photograph signed "Hope/you are all/Happy/Dean Jagger". B/w, 8x10 overall, 7½x9¼ image, one surface. Jagger (1903-1991, born in Columbus Grove, Ohio) had some early starring roles, including the title role in Brigham Young, Frontiersman (1940), but found his true calling as a character actor. He won an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Major Stovall in Twelve O'Clock High (1949). A schoolteacher before he became an actor, Jagger played a school principal on the TV series Mr. Novak (1963-1964), which earned him Emmy nominations in 1964 and 1965. He also won a Daytime Emmy for his performance in an episode of This Is The Life (1980). Jagger appeared on Broadway eight times between 1933 and 1948, including the original Broadway production of Tobacco Road (1933-1934). Lightly toned, creased and bowed. Signature is slightly shaky but legible. Negative and reproduction errors in image. Otherwise in fine condition.
