They sign as Secretary of State and Governor of New Mexico, respectively.
Signatures: "Dean Rusk/Secretary of State", and on verso "Jack Campbell Governor of New Mexico 6-10-65", 6¾x9¼ album leaf with b/w newspaper photograph attached below signatures. Rusk is 1¾x3½ Campbell is 1¾x3½. Ink numbers (unknown hand) at lower corner. DEAN RUSK (1909-1994) served as Secretary of State throughout the JFK and LBJ administrations, January 20, 1961 to January 20, 1969. Early in the Cuban missile crisis, Rusk advocated a strike on Cuba after prior political warning to Castro or Khrushchev. Later in the crisis he suggested that Attorney General Robert Kennedy offer Soviet Ambassador Dobrynin oral assurances on the U.S. intention to withdraw Jupiter missiles from Turkey. Rusk supported U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. JACK M. CAMPBELL (1916-1999) was a Marine during World War II and later worked for the FBI. As a state legislator (1955-1962), he rose to be Speaker of the New Mexico House of Representatives. A Democrat, he served was elected to consecutive two-year terms as Governor (1963-1967). Jagged at right edge from removal from bound book. Otherwise, fine condition.
