Reynolds, whose performance in this film was considered a high point in her career, was nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award and the Golden Globe for Best Actress - Musical or Comedy for her role as the title character. The film was also nominated for Academy Awards for Best Adapted Score, Best Color Art Direction, Best Color Cinematography, Best Color Costume Design and Best Sound, and picked up a Golden Globe nomination for Best Picture - Musical or Comedy. In the year this film was released, Reynolds also appeared in another feature film, Goodbye Charlie. She also appeared on television as a "Mystery Guest" on What's My Line?, was seen in archival footage on Toast of the Town and was a presenter at the 36th Annual Academy Awards. Debbie Reynolds's (1932-2016) film career began at MGM after she won a beauty contest at age 16 impersonating Betty Hutton. Most of her film work has been in MGM musicals, as perky, wholesome young women. In 1952, Reynolds starred in what many consider to be Hollywood's greatest musical, Singin' in the Rain (1952). She continued to use her dancing skills with stage work. Nearly all the money she has made is spent toward her goal of creating a Hollywood museum. Her collection numbers more than 3000 costumes and 46,000 square-feet worth of props and equipment. Lightly creased. Minor chip at upper right edge of front cover and upper left edge of back cover.
