Typed Letter Signed: "Debbie". 1 page, 7¼x10½. Beverly Hills, California, July 19, 1966.
On personal letterhead to Robert. In Full: "How heartwarming it was for me to receive your
letter, and what a delight it is to be able to say hello to some of those who have helped me in my
profession all these years. As you can imagine, things have been going at a hectic pace for me. I am
now doing as my next assignment a motion picture titled, 'Divorce American Style' with Dick
Van Dyke, Jason Robards and Jean Simmons, and I hope it will be in your neighborhood theatre
soon. I am sending along the photo you asked for. Warmest thanks". Debbie Reynolds's
(1932-2016) film career began at MGM after she won a beauty contest at age 16
impersonating Betty Hutton. Most of her film work has been in MGM musicals, as perky,
wholesome young women. In 1952, Reynolds starred in what many consider to be
Hollywood's greatest musical, Singin' in the Rain (1952). She continued to use her dancing
skills with stage work. Nearly all the money she has made is spent toward her goal of
creating a Hollywood museum. Her collection numbers more than 3000 costumes and
46,000 square-feet worth of props and equipment. Fine condition.
